"Russian Homemade Cabbage Rolls"

(Golyptsi - in Russian)

Today I made some Russian Cabbage Rolls, it is also a favorite food of the Russian community.  I wanted to share with you how to make Cabbage Rolls step-by-step.

Things you need to make the Cabbage Rolls:

Meat - 1 lb. Ground-Beef and 1 lb. Ground-Turkey (that is what I use, some people might like Ground-Pork and Ground-Turkey, it's your own taste, do it how you like it)

Cabbage - only one (need to be steamed)
Rice - 1 cup of rice
Eggs - 2 eggs (raw)
Carrot - only one (average size, shredded)
Onion - only one (average size, finely chopped)
Cilantro - about 2 tea spoons (fine chopped)
Salt & Pepper - about half a tea spoon (but make sure you just do it buy the "Taste" cause some people might like it more salty or more spicy it's up to the person)

"Sauce" - 1 can of tomato sauce and one larger carton type container of the heavy whipping cream.

Step 1.

Mix all all of the ingredients together in the bowl: two kinds of ground meat, rice, eggs, carrot, onion, cilantro, salt and pepper.

Step 2.

Cabbage need to be steamed in a big pan where you can pretty much fit the whole cabbage.
Cut out the really hard part of the cabbage, it looks like this:

Step 3.

Once you have all of the cabbage steamed and the lettuce all separated you can start rolling the cabbage rolls into the rolls. Make sure to cut out the hard part of the lettuce and slice the lettuce in half, so from on leaf you will have two cabbage rolls.
It should look like this:

Step 4.

After you have them all rolled, just put them in the one of the disposable aluminum pan or pans, depends on the size of your pan.
It should look like this:

Step 5.

After you have in in the aluminum pan you would need to put some of the steamed lettuce that you have left or the hard cut outs from them on the top of the cabbage rolls.
It should look like this:

Step 6.

Now you just need to mix the tomato sauce and heavy whipping cream together, mix it in the pan and heat it up to a boil. Then, pour the mix over the cabbage rolls.
It should look like this:

Step 7.
Put the pan with cabbage rolls in the oven. Oven should be set up for 375 degrees or 380 that is totally depends on the type of the oven you have. Bake them for 2 hours, if you try them and the lettuce are still hard then you can bake it a little more like half and hour or an hour, like I said it depends on the oven you have. When you try the cabbage rolls and they taste like the meat is cooked, the lettuce are soft and chewy, you can now take them out of the oven and serve them with some sour cream on the plate.
Just like this:

"Enjoy and "Bon Appetit"
